Who's Doing What

Lincoln R. Wiese, Wilmington, NC --- What a year!! I went on the "Honor Flight" out of Wilmington, NC in April, 2011 which was one of the best days of my life. There were about 50 WWII veterans and we left on a chartered flight out of Wilmington to Reagan International Airport in Washington, DC. We were transported on three buses and spent the day viewing the World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, and the Korean Memorial. We arrived home about 7:30 pm and were greeted at the airport in Wilmington by bands, singers, the Wounded Warrior motorcyclists and at least 200 people waving the American Flag. What a Day!!  In June, my family gave me a surprise party for my 90th birthday and friends from all over came to surprise me. It was another great day to remember. Enclosed is a picture of "Yours Truly" at my 90th Birthday Party.

Wayne O. Abshier, Grand Island, NB --- Upon retirement, I started learning to golf. Now, twenty five years later, I continue to golf and to bowl. My wife and I are active members of Third City Christian Church. We enjoy being with our children and their spouses, as well as seeing five grand-children and six great-grand-children. I enjoy reading about exploration, as well as learning of memorials for deceased employees.

William R. Gravatt, Drakesville, IA --- Retired in 1983. Purchased 47 acres and built a really nice house. Still live there. My wife passed away in April 2008. I have no plans of ever moving unless it's absolutely necessary. Keep busy by keeping up the place, have lots of mowing and keeping up the fences etc. Play golf at least twice a week if weather is ok. Have 30 great buddies to play with. We play pool at my house if weather not good to play golf.  I go to church most every Sunday and enjoy being on the Leadership Team. Also have a wonderful girl friend. We spend lots of time together and go to Florida three of four months in winter. Retired from Getty as District Manager in the Skelgas division. My health is good and I am enjoying life.

Jack L. Nelson, Birdseye, IN --- We started with SOTEX in Corpus Christi in 1957 after 6 years we moved to  Midland, TX and thence to Denver in 1971 retiring in 1983 to home farm in southern Indiana. Now in our late 80's we let others do most of the harvesting of timber, corn and soy beans. My 26 years with Chevron in exploration are replete with happy memories about the beautiful people we met and worked with. However, 28 years of retirement in gorgeous southern Indiana isn't half bad either. I realize the pictures do not have national appeal but you are welcome to use them as you wish. See Pictures

Harold B. Lawley, Manchester, TN --- I worked for Kewanee Oil Company in the Panhandle of Texas Division and retired after 25 years of service. Served in all 3 districts, Pampa, Badger, and Morse as petroleum engineer and superintendant in the Morse District. I will be 85 on November 30, 2011. Would appreciate hearing from anyone that has worked in these 3 districts and for Tulsa office.

Bobby D. Ott, Veneta, OR --- Just to introduce you to "us" , search the Jan-Feb Encore of 1994 and you will find "our" stories of 275 years with Chevron. We'll soon be 81 and 80 and still active at home in God's Country! A little slower but no less happier. Call us - we'll talk. No computer.

Robert B. Livesay, Corvallis, OR --- Louise and I have lived in  Corvallis, OR for about 12 years. We moved here to be near our son David and family. It was a good move for us. In January 2011 we moved to an assisted living residence. This was necessary due to my spinal stenosis limiting my activity and Louise's second stroke imposing limitations on her. Another good move. We enjoy living in Corvallis and being near family. It is however, a long way from the oil patch and my former Texaco cohorts. I retired from the Los Angeles Division of Texaco Producing Department in September 1987. I was Manager of Operations at the time of my retirement.
